Spring Term

Dear Parents,

Firstly, I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year. I hope you had a lovely time over Christmas. Your children have settled well back in school.

There are a few things happening this term of which you need to be aware. Our new topic is Space. Inside this leaflet you can read about some of the exiting things we will be studying. We will be designing and building our own 3D rockets, learning about the first moon landing, creating our own space characters and writing our own fantasy story!

PE will still be on a Tuesday so please make sure your child has the correct kit in school. Please ensure your child’s name is written in all of their kit and items of clothing.

Year 1 are doing well with their reading, most children are reading every night and this is reflected in their school work. Keep up the good work and make sure your child’s book bags come in everyday! Your child may have moved phonic groups. These changes are made to match their phonics ability and their spellings are set accordingly. Spellings will be given out on a Friday and followed by a test on the following Friday just like last term.

Homework will still be given out on Wednesday to be returned by the following Wednesday. We will be arranging a trip this half term linked to space, information will follow in due course.

I will continue to use the school blog and hopefully Seesaw so keep an eye on out to see what we have been doing in school. As always I am available after school if you need to talk to me about any school issues and once again thank you for your on-going support.
