Summer Term

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to the summer term! The children have settled back into daily routines well and are ready for the challenges of the upcoming term.

As usual, we have Mr Atherton working alongside me every morning, Mrs Thompson working with us three mornings per week and Miss Blackith every afternoon. We will always be happy to speak to you about any queries or concerns you may have so please do come and speak to us after school if you need to.

We do PE every Friday. It is essential that your child has a suitable PE kit in school – plain t-shirt and shorts (without buttons or         pockets), sandshoes or trainers. Long hair must be tied back. We     recommend that PE kits are left in school all week and taken home at weekends.

We hear children read in groups in class and also try to hear         individual readers whenever possible. Sadly, it has come to our   attention that a large number of children are not reading regularly at home. As an absolute minimum all children should be reading for 5-10 minutes 3 or 4 times per week. We will be closely monitoring   reading diaries in the coming weeks and any child not reading     regularly at home will spend 5-10 minutes of their lunchbreak   catching up.

Spellings and times tables will be given out on a Monday and the     children will be tested the following Monday. Homework will be given out on a Monday to be handed in on a Friday. It is really important your child completes any extra tasks they are given.

Thank you very much for your continued support.

Miss Lockhart, Mr Atherton, Mrs Thompson and Miss Blackith.
