Firstly, I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year. I hope you had a lovely time over Christmas. The children have settled well back in school.
Our new topic is named ‘Blitzkreig’, where the children will be learning all about WW2. Inside this leaflet you can read about some of the exiting things we will be studying.
It is essential that your child has a suitable PE kit in school – plain blue t-shirt and shorts, sandshoes or trainers. Long hair must be tied back. We recommend that PE kits are left in school and taken home at the end of term.
We hear children read in groups in class during the week, but also try to hear individual readers when possible. Please read regularly at home with your child - 10 minutes every night would be brilliant. Please make sure you write in the reading diary to indicate when you have listened to your child read.
Spellings are given out each week on a Monday for a test on the following Monday. The children are also given X tables to learn every week (they have a record of which one they are learning) and they will be tested on these every Monday.
Homework will be given out on a Monday and should be returned by a Friday. This supports our class work and is a necessity—not an optional extra!
Mr Atherton and Mrs Thompson will continue to work alongside me in the mornings this term. In the afternoons, Miss Blackith will now be working with us.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to speak to any one of us after school.
Thank you very much for your support.
