Welcome to Year 3! The class have settled in well and I’m looking forward to the year ahead.
Mrs Heslop is going to be working alongside me in Year 3. We will always be happy to speak to you about any queries or concerns you may have so please do come and speak to us after school if you need to.
We do PE every Friday. It is essential that your child has a suitable PE kit in school – plain t-shirt and shorts (without buttons or pockets), sandshoes or trainers. Long hair must be tied back. We recommend that PE kits are left in school all week and taken home at weekends.
We hear children read in groups in class and also try to hear individual readers whenever possible. Your child has been given a new reading book and reading diary. Most children are now able to read to themselves and I am more than happy for them to now sign their own diaries to indicate when they have read. However, could an adult please check and sign the diary at least once per week as it is a good way of home and school communicating any non urgent matters.
Spellings and times tables will be given out on a Monday and the children will be tested the following Monday. Homework will be given out on a Wednesday to be handed in on a Monday. It is really important your child completes any extra tasks they are given.
Finally, In Music, the children will be learning how to play the ‘Penny Whistle’. Instruments will be provided but if your child would like their own (so they can practise at home) they can be purchased from the school office.
Thank you very much for your continued support.
Miss Lockhart and Mrs Heslop.
