Autumn Term

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope you all had a fabulous summer and are refreshed and ready for a new term! The children have settled into Y5 well and are learning new routines quickly.

This termly letter is to inform you of the exciting projects and topics that we are learning about in Year 5. This term we will be learning about The Tudors.

PE will be on Thursday, but please make sure your child leaves a full kit at school all week.

The homework this term will be handed out on Wednesdays, to be returned the following Tuesday. Spellings and tables will be tested on Tuesdays.

Weekly homework will include:

 Times tables practice

 Maths task

 Weekly spellings and five sentences to write

Children should be reading for 30 minutes each week night. (Please sign and date your child’s reading book to show they have read, otherwise they will read during playtime.)

Children also have some termly homework based on our Tu-dors topic. They can choose from different tasks to earn points. This does not have to be handed in until the last week of this term. (December)

Please look at the Year 5 blog on the school website for pho-tographs of the activities children have been enjoying. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to speak to us after school. Thank you very much for your support,

Mrs Bennison and Miss Blackith
